Book Festival
The Ministry of Culture has started extensive preparations to develop a new vision for the holding of the Cairo International Book Fair, according to the developments of the Corona virus pandemic, which struck the world several months ago and prompted many countries to refrain from holding book fairs for the past 5 months. In preparation for the exhibition, which will start at the end of next January, the meetings of the Supreme Executive Committee of the exhibition began to discuss the precautionary measures that will be taken, and the nature of the activities that will be established to suit the next stage. “Masrawy” learned from sources in the Ministry of Culture, who declined to be named, that the most prominent features of the special session of the book fair, is the reduction of artistic and cultural activity accompanying the session, and the need to wear masks for all visitors to the exhibition, whether from the public, exhibitors or intellectuals who will participate in the seminars. The artistic activity will also be held in accordance with the precautionary measures that are now being taken in theaters, including reducing attendance numbers to 50% of the theater chairs, in order to achieve the required social distancing. The stone door will also be opened to Egyptian publishers during the month of October, after studying the available spaces and reducing the number of pavilions in the new version of the exhibition, in cooperation with the Egypt International Conference Center in the Fifth Settlement.
